Our Wirehaired Pointing Griffons

Ore Bank Dogs

CH Ore Bank’s On A Whim JH | “Whimsy”
Born – 4/1/24

Shirley x Archie (Glacier’s Huntin’ Fishin’ Lovin’ Every Day)

Whimsy came to us just like her name says… on a whim. We had no intention of keeping a puppy out of her litter, but we just could not let her go. Her beauty and sass just had to stay here at Ore Bank. She has easily earned her beginning-level titles in the AKC and NAVHDA systems and will continue to train and test for higher levels. Her movement and overall conformation set her apart in the show ring early on, taking RWB at the AWPGA National Specialty at only 7 months old. She is now working toward being my first OH GCH. Whimsy has been a joy in the home, living up to her name and stealing the hearts of everyone she meets.

CH Ore Bank’s Arlington Hero | “Arlo”
Born – 4/1/24

Shirley x Archie (Glacier’s Huntin’ Fishin’ Lovin’ Every Day)

Arlo is a boy with the whole package. He has lovely conformation, a great field search with a natural retrieve, and a loving temperament. He is co-owned by Marcia Hoff and Tony Hoff, a relative who lives only 10 minutes from Ore Bank. Due to his close proximity, we can be very involved in Arlo’s training and progress in all aspects. This boy has a lot to offer and will be available for stud when all Ore Bank criteria have been met. Contact Ore Bank with inquiries on Arlo.

CH Ore Bank’s Oh Say Can Jo’See JH | “Josie”
Born – 4/28/23

Libby (Ore Bank’s Firecrackin’ Lady Liberty) x Tripp (Soonipi Poin’t Joyau Du Midwest)

Josie is a beautiful little girl whose parents both have NAVHDA UT1 prizes and AKC conformation Championships. She has already achieved her own AKC CH and JH as well as her NAVHDA NA, and is actively testing toward her higher-level hunt titles. There is so much to love about Josie! She has a lot of prey drive, search, style, and a natural honor that can not be beat. She is rapidly becoming our favorite dog for woodcock hunting. Her size, coat, and coloring make her a very typey griff, and the perfect combination of beauty and talent.

Ore Bank’s Make My Day | “Clint”
Born – 4/28/23

Libby x Tripp (both parents UT1 and AKC CH)

Clint is a boy with substance, a beautiful hunting coat, and a love of the water. This boy excels in water retrieves and has a natural duck search. Testing NA at just 6 months, he scored an NA P1 and is currently training toward advanced titles. He has also done well in the show ring and will soon complete his conformation championship. He is owned by Dave Chumbley, Gary Kephart, and Marcia Hoff. He will be available for stud in the near future.

CH Ore Bank’s Savoir Fer JH | “Savvy”
Born – 4/11/16
Savvy was the result of a breeding between Mae and a French Canadian male, Duchasseur Igor Larionov, whom I had been watching since he was a young dog. We drove to Montreal for the tremendous water drive that Igor exhibited, and it paid off. Savvy showed a love of the water at a very young age, and she passed that drive on to her pups. She earned a NAVHDA NA l at 7 months old, and has since garnered a NAVHDA UT III, an AKC conformation championship, an AKC Master Hunter, and is the dam to two NAVHDA Breeder Award-winning litters – she is all owner-trained and handled. Savvy has a ton of prey drive, a great search and desire to work, and a very strong pointing instinct. Savvy is no longer in the breeding pool.

Ore Bank’s Christmas Hollyday | “Shirley”
Born 12/25/18
Shirley has a very special story that can be viewed in the NAVHDA VHD, January 2020 issue. She is a sweet girl who melts into whoever she wants to snuggle. Earning a maximum score on her NAVHDA NA test, she has shown a lot of potential and has been a fun one to work with. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been able to take our time with her training. In addition to her NA Pl, she has achieved an AKC Senior Hunter title, one leg of her Master Hunter title, and her conformation championship. She is the dam of our 2024 litter, which included Whimsy and five handsome males. Watch for them to do great things!

Ore Bank’s Firecrackin’ Lady Liberty | “Libby”
Born 7/4/18
Libby is the embodiment of living up to her name. We knew she would be a firecracker when she was whelped as a singleton on the 4th of July, so we had a special home for her. She has attained many accolades as the second Ore Bank Wirehaired Pointing Griffon in the home of Gary and Melissa Kephart. She quickly became a conformation champion, looking so much like her sire, Whiskeytown Stonehenge Riding Shotgun, while working the ring. Thanks to Gary’s hard work and dedication, she titled in the AKC and NAVHDA hunt systems. Her greatest accomplishment to date is earning a NAVHDA Prize One in Utility… twice! But more than anything, she is a hunting dog and loves her job. She is the dam to our 2023 litter which included our Josie. She and her littermates earned us a NAVHDA Breeder Award in one test when the pups were barely six months old. Libby is no longer in the breeding pool.

Ore Bank’s Ressler On The Spot | “Ressler”
Born 10/6/14
Ressler is our proven stud dog out of Milly’s second litter. He lives locally with a relative making things a lot easier when our resident girls go into season. He, like Shirley, also scored a maximum of 112/112 on his NAVHDA NA test. I was quite proud of this since he and I had few opportunities to prepare. He also is an AKC champion and has his AKC JH title. He is a sweet, loveable boy with eyes that see into your soul. Many of his offspring have inherited his beautiful eyes and head.

Ore Bank’s Iron Maiden | “Mae”
Born 1/2/13 – 9/29/25
Mae was our pick out of Milly’s first litter, so essentially our first Ore Bank dog. A spunky thing, she still does not look her age. Just like her predecessors, Mae has been totally owner trained and handled. (Are you noticing a theme yet?) She is also a conformation champion and an AKC Master Hunter. Out of all our girls, Mae earned her MH at the earliest age, due to her extreme biddability. She is also our retrieving specialist. Nothing makes her happier than a good dove, or a driven pheasant hunt at Orvis where she can be a pickup dog. Mae is no longer in the breeding pool.

Fireside’s Milk Chocolate | “Milly”
12/28/08 – 4/27/24
Without Milly, there would be no Ore Bank puppies. She is our foundation bitch, and at this point, all of our pups are direct descendants of her. She is a loving soul and a master attention stealer. She quickly achieved her AKC conformation championship and was our first Master Hunter. Like her best buddy, Dutch, she was owner-trained and handled. She is the dam to two large litters (13 and 9), which both qualified for the NAVHDA NA Breeder Awards. Her progeny have excelled in the show ring and the field, earning many titles. One of her favorite activities was guiding hunts at various preserves, which she did quite a lot. As a happy and methodical hunter, she covered ground easily but rarely missed a bird. She is now retired but still loves an occasional pigeon and hanging out on the couch or a comfy bed, as long as it is close to her people.

Fireside’s Dutch Chocolate | “Dutch”
6/13/06 – 5/30/20
The boy who started it all! His love and loyalty were unmatched. As the starter Griff, he still managed to attain a conformation Championship, an AKC JH, and a NAVHDA UT III. Every single piece of his accomplishments was owner-trained and handled, so imagine what he would have achieved under the tutelage of a pro. His memory will live on in our logo and our hearts forever!
